Feb. 12 Dr. Moshe Rachmut University of Oregon Comparative Literature Mutual Suspicion: Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani's Use of Fragmented Narration as an antidote to Jewish and Palestinian Stereotypes, in the film Ajami (2009). March 4 Prof. Ken Helphand of the University of Oregon Israel's Landscape Language -- Landscape Architecture in Israel with a focus on exemplary recent projects by UO grads. April 15 Rabbi Jonathan Seidel of Or haGan, OSU and Lewis and Clark College– Reflections on Halakha and Religious Freedom in Israel . This talk is devoted to new pluralistic and renewed perspectives in Jewish jurisprudence and halakha, including “Mishpat Ivri” May 16 (Wed eve) Amos Meron, Portland Shaliah and IDF veteran Reflections on the the IDF and military ethics, with a question and answer session about the Israel/Galut relations and working with our Jewish college students in Oregon. June 6 (Wed eve) Bob Horenstein, Jewish Federation of Greater Portland Summary of the Current State of Affairs and Update on the work of the CRC in Portland and Oregon.
